I am an 18 year old App Developer currently majoring in Computer Science at Santa Clara University. This summer I will be interning at Apple in Cupertino, California.
With the help of fellow app developer Ferdinand Hof, I created an app, Joyride, in 36 hours at University of Michigan’s hackathon. The app won the prize of 'Best iOS App', presented by Apple. The app allows users to create routes of their ‘joyirdes’, or places where they enjoy driving around. The app can also generate its own routes by creating a perimeter around the user’s current location. Users can view and modify routes by adding and moving individual waypoints. The app utilizes the CloudKit and MapKit frameworks.
I have been awarded scholarships from Apple to attend WWDC for free in 2014 and 2015. Each year, applicants had to create an app that showcased their skills, hobbies, and interests.
In 2014, Apple awarded only 200 student scholarships worldwide. This was my first time attending WWDC and it was a life-changing experience. I learned so many new things and I made connections with people that are turning into lifelong friendships.
I hope to accomplish the same (and more!) at this year's WWDC. I would like to be able to meet even more developers and maybe even secure a job or internship in the Bay Area for next year!
